AOpen IDE 16x CD/DVD R+/- RW Page 2 Installation & Appearance 09/16/05
Installation: Installation of a CD / DVD is pretty eventless. All drives come standard as a 5 ¼ drive with some screw holes on the side for mounting purposes. The rest is pretty stock make sure your drive is setup properly either Single Master or Cable select using the jumper located near the power connection. As with all IDE drive devices Aopen uses a 4-pin Molex for power and standard IDE for communication. Just plug and play.. The software provided was what we expected your standard OEM Nero Express versions that do just about everything needed for your burning pleasures. There where no errors and I recommend just using the default installations if you are not familiar with the software… Nero provides many types of burning utilities so I recommend trying them all and seeing what you like to use. Remember CD and DVD media are pretty cheep now and expect to make a few coasters if you are a novice.
Appearance:
When we opened this box we weren’t really expecting much but to our surprise Aopen provides three different face plates to help accommodate the multiple themes and colors that the PC consumer use today . To switch these plates is pretty easy there are pressure pins or latches on the sides. Just be careful because these latches are on three sides of the drive. Make sure before removing the plat that you remove the front tray cover this just snaps off. 1-2-3.
