Performance: With burring and media devices the best and most practical way for our team to see how well it performs is to burn a bunch of stuff and see how many coasters are made and just how fast the burn process takes.. What we found out was just about as expected.. When burning 20 DVD-R at rated speeds we averaged one out of 20 do be defective. When burning CD-R's it took 36 CD's to make a bad CD.. What does that mean well if you are an occasional media backup / CD burning person then you probably wont care at all and this burner will perform well, But if you plan on brining 30 or 40 DVD's a week then this might factor into your cost . For people that burn allot I definitely would recommend a high end but for the average Joe AOpen has made just the product for you... I was going to get into all the rates and stats but until I get my hands on another comparable product the rates wouldn't tell you much more then what I explained..
