Apollo NVIDIA 6800 GT 128meg AGP

03/25/06

Page 2 Installation & Appearance

Installation:

As you can see from the photos installing an AGP video card is very easy and to be honest the hardware install shouldn't take more then 5 minutes. The only real thing to remember is make sure you hook up the extra 4-pin 12v power or you might not get very far..

When it comes to software there is a little more to it. For a clean install meaning on a PC that has never had a video card loaded this will be easy just stick the CD into your drive and run the setup you will needs Direct X 9.0 loaded but there is a prompt so no worries.. If this install is on an existing system remember to always uninstall old drivers using the add remove program exe under the control panel of you windows PC then remove the old card then install the Apollo 6800 and finally load the new drivers using the installation CD provided.

I did not run into a single problem with the overall install and the CD uses a newer driver so I did not update this from the web.. The only issue I can see with any install not just Apollo software is not remembering to uninstall you former graphics software. I have had the pleasure of Rebuilding systems when drivers went nuts so do yourself a favor and read don't be in a hurry, Read the instructions Uninstall if needed and install using CD provided..

Appearance:

The appearance of this card is to be honest a little lacking. The card is bulky and the heat sink is ultra wide not to mention the cooler is green and the card itself is red. The design is based on the original 6800 concept so it looks like it should but man is it huge.... I don't mean that in a good way. Take a look for yourself. If it is important to you to have a visually appealing case with a Window panel then make sure to take a look at what you are getting but if you don't have a window then this card will be fine..
