Performance:
There are many ways to measure performance with motherboard we are going
to keep it simple and see how well the GA-K8U measure against some
performance models using similar video cards and CPU's. PCMArk04 by
FutureMark is one of our benchmarks of choice this and PressMark's
Performance Test 6.0 will measure and give a good idea of just how well
the Gigabyte GA-K8U fares.

As you can see I chose to compare this motherboard to very respectable
competitors. All are higher end boards I expected to out perform the mid
range GA-K8U. The reason for this is simple if cost is important then a
product that performs similar at almost 1/2 the price is not a bad
deal. The second factor you need to understand is the competitors are
also PCI-e models as well so the fact that the GA-K8U performs in the
same range shows that this board is well worth the price. Keep in mind
if you are looking for performance then buy high end this is a cost
effective board not a super performer..

PCMark05 is relatively new so at this point we are using the demo
version until we make determine just how much new stuff you get over
PCMark04. That being said bellow is the detailed result we found when
running the GA-K8U the results seem respectable a bit lower then the 04
results but that is to be expected with the newer version of benchmark
software..
Main Test Results
PassMark has a great utility for overall PC wellness the performance
test 6.0 will be run and using some comparisons to a SOYO CK8 with a
6600 GT card you can see even though the Gigabyte has a lower CPU the
performance is very competitive. Considering the SOYO CK8 is of the
ultra line and the GA-K8U is stock or mid range board the results show
that the GigaByte board performs as to be expected. Nothing earth
shattering but very stable and sound results. I will end up using this
board full time for our editors PC so that in itself says something.
Very good board for a new PC enthusiast that wants to try there luck on
a first build or for an expert that needs another rig for basic use and
playing games.
