Page 2 Installation & Appearance

Installation:

Installation of a video card is nothing new if you are familiar with how to place a card into a IO slot then you might want to skip this portion of the article the only thing out of the ordinary is the software and I will get to that later. On with the install. Pretty much the most important part of this install is that you make sure everything is seated properly and that the DV adapter is connected. Below are a few photos the show just how easy this install is..

The second part of an installation is the drivers. Now this can be the tricky part but it appears XFX has done some changes to the install procedure and made the software pretty built proof. Rule #1 though before installing any drivers make sure you have Direct X loaded all of the newer drivers require it and I have seen some serious PC problems because this was not done in proper order.. Other then that after you place the CD in the ROM the flash auto exe will pop up and you will have a few choices driver installation utilities yadah yadah its all-pretty self explanatory. One thing that I was a little disappointed with was the extras. No games not even a demo. The extra application provided is good software but all are trial versions. Maybe this is why they are the cheapest. Anyway I do like the software they provide and I use them with other video cards but seeing that that are trial versions I will be honest I didn’t even load them.. This is to be expected when in a highly competitive market especially when XFX claim to fame is price….

Appearance:

The look is pretty stock XFX does place a cool little cartoon image on the cooler but other then that it looks like a video card everything appears to be in its place and working properly. I do like the color schema XFX uses and their image is cool enough. The important portion of this article will be the performance if this card keeps up with similar cards then this XFX has made a winner. Bellow are a few photos displaying the overall look of the 6600 GT.
