This article is more a work log. For the
folks not fermilliar with Marns CDA my fist real published build was a
PC case called Soundwave. A tribute case to the Transformer character.
This was several years ago and the case has been pretty much collecting
dust. What we decided to do is give the old case an over haul. To do
this My 12 yearold nephew Brenden will be doing the majority of the
work. Parts are taken from a few other cases and builds no longer used
To start off we Brenden removed all they old core components the SOYO
K7 motherboard and the IDE hard drive. Then he placed all the new part
inside including an ABIT AN8 Fatal1ty motherboard, AMD 3500 64bit
Athilon CPU, 40gig SATA Barracuda drive.
Next we decided what type of cooling and lighting he was going to use.
After removing all the UV lighting and the Fan controller we decided to
go with the Red Cathode lights to go along with the Red ABIT
motherboard. In addition for cooling he will be using the new AC Freezer
Pro and to control all the fans rather then using the old school turn
dial we are going to use a 400 series Orbits LED controller.
For an OS Brenden was to run the latest Windows Vista 64bit RC1. After
everything was loaded we ran into one problem Realtek does not support
Vista yet. There are a few Beta Drivers on the Realtek site but nothing
worked. We might be forced to use an ad on card until RealTek gets there
driver working properly.
Seeing this is my nephew's first real build I wanted him to decided
everything about what we do including the software. For his first time
he did great and I am hoping he learned something from the experience.
Hey you never know he might be one of Marns CDA's new moders or review
specialists.
